On the 27th of September, Sara Britcliffe, the Member of Parliament for Hyndburn and Haslingden, attended Accrington Stanley's 7th Annual Big Shirt Giveaway at the Wham Stadium. Over the years, the initiative has gifted 8,400 shirts to local youngsters. This year, Year Three pupils from 39 local schools were delighted to receive replica shirts and goodie bags, thanks to generous sponsors including Sundown Solutions, Studio, and the Accrington Stanley Community Trust.
The event also provided children with a voucher for an upcoming match and a special flag. With contributions from various local businesses, the giveaway aims to encourage local youth to engage with sport and foster a connection to their League Two team.
Commenting on the occasion, the MP said,
